Editorial Photo Retouching Services

Editorial retouching is less about making every frame perfect and more about making every frame belong. We shape colour, atmosphere and detail around the story the photographer and creative team want to tell.

Editorial photo retouching and colour finishing by Midori Studio
Midori Studio / Editorial Retouching

An editorial series succeeds through rhythm. Wide frames, portraits, details and transitional images must feel connected even when they were produced across different lighting setups. Midori Studio develops a consistent finishing language across the complete story.

The retouching approach is adapted to the publication, photographer and visual reference. Some stories need clean tonal restraint; others require deep colour, controlled grain, complex compositing or a deliberately imperfect finish. Technique follows the narrative rather than imposing one recognisable effect on every project.

01

Narrative-led colour and finishing

A colour direction is established using hero frames before the complete selection is finished. Skin tone, wardrobe colour and background density are balanced across the series while each image retains the contrast and atmosphere appropriate to its role.

Local adjustments guide attention without becoming visible. The work can include cleanup, tonal shaping, hair and garment refinement, sky or background adjustments and compositing when required.

02

Built for editorial sequences

Image matching considers page order, spreads and transitions rather than treating every file in isolation. This creates a more cohesive result for magazines, online editorials, books and portfolio presentations.

Final files are supplied to the publication or photographer specifications, with organised naming and output profiles that simplify handoff to designers and production teams.
